#gravitational lensing

Gravity bends light, so a heavy mass works as a lens: what lies behind it is stretched, doubled, or drawn into a ring around it, an Einstein ring. In a shader each ray is walked in steps and, at every step, its direction is pulled a little towards the mass, more the closer it passes.
