The app
Ray Kiln for Mac
The app the episodes are made with: write a shader, see it run as you type, move its sliders, record it, and share it to the gallery.
macOS 15 or later. Signed by its developer and notarized by Apple. 4 MB
What it does
- An editor with the shader running beside it, recompiled as you type, errors shown on their lines.
- Start from any episode: the app copies it into your Documents folder for you to change.
- Sliders for every
// @paramline, with presets you can save. - Stills and video, the same exporter that makes the episodes' videos.
- Share to the gallery: the app records an eight-second loop and uploads it with the source.
Opening shaders from the site
“Open in Ray Kiln” on an episode or a shared shader hands its source to the app. The app shows you the code first and runs nothing until you press Run.
